How much is this journey going to cost me?

INVESTMENT:

You are responsible for your own air fare, so that cost will vary for everyone. You will need a flight to Lima and after one full day in Lima, a flight to Pucallpa. We usually arrange for our entire group to fly together from Lima to Pucallpa, if possible.

The cost of a 12-day retreat is $1800. When you register, we ask for a $900 deposit. The remainder is due 30 days before the retreat. The deposit is not refundable unless we cancel the retreat.

If you cannot go, your deposit can go toward a future retreat, or someone else may take your place, (after we review their registration).

In Lima this covers your hotel stay. (you are responsible for the cost of transportation, food, or any other expenses in Lima). Once we arrive in Pucallpa, we will take care of your transportation to Tierra Vida, and we provide lodging, food, 5 ceremonies, laundry service, and whatever other support you might need.

ADDITIONAL EXPENSES:

Shamans will often suggest other plant medicines besides ayahuasca that they believe will be good for your healing. It is common for people to spend $30-$150 on additional medicine. Shipibo crafts! At every retreat, there is a day where the local Shipibo people who are affiliated with Tierra Vida set out their crafts and wares for people to purchase. They have some really nice stuff and this is a great way to support their community! They sell everything from small jewelry costing under $5, to elaborate tapestries and paintings that could be hundreds of dollars.

SHOPPING & DINING:

Lima is renowned for it's excellent cuisine, but you can expect to pay about 1/3 the price you would in the states for restaurants. There's not a lot of time for dining out but we will probably go to one nice place as a group (optional).

There are lots of things you can get in Lima and Pucallpa that are unique and very well priced that you may be interested in. In Lima there is a great market for purchasing Andean clothing, (made of high quality Alpaca), and art.

INVESTMENT OF TIME & ENERGY:

It may be possible for you to leave your home and be back to sleep in your own bed 14 days later. Most people traveling internationally need an extra day or two for travel. *This is especially true on your return trip*. When you leave the jungle and return to Lima, it is likely that you will have to take a later flight back to your country of origin. Rest and integration is very important after your retreat! Because of this, we don't recommend trying to go all the way from the jungle back home without a rest. Some people will stay an extra night in Lima and get an early morning flight. Some will get a hotel at a layover city along the way home. Please consider this in your planning! It is also important to plan a full day rest after you return home, rather than going immediately back to life's usual demands. If you have the luxury to take a few easy days after you get home, that's even better. All said and done, we recommend setting aside 16 calendar days for our 12-day retreats..
